Hobby from Necessity

So, I’m trying out WP again after losing my previous WP blog a while ago. Anyway, since then, moved to Singapore with my wife, and since the living expenses here are extremely, very, very…I mean super high, we’ve had to cut down on eating out and cook a bit more. Wouldn’t you know it, cooking’s pretty fun. It’s essentially chemistry that you eat. So for this first post, I’ll share something simple that I cook a lot.

It’s a simple marinade for  meat. I like to use it for steak, chicken breast, or salmon. It tastes pretty good with all of them. Here’s the secret:

  • 3/4 – 1 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of olive oil
  • 2 tbsp of vinegar
  • 2 tsp of salt
  • 2 tsp of ground black pepper
  • 3 tsp of mustard
  • 2 tsp of Italian herbs

Just mix them all up, make sure they mix well, and marinade the meat as needed (Sometimes, 20 minutes can be enough). Tip: Use a Ziploc bag to marinade the meat, u can pack it up and tightly set it in the fridge to marinade. It’ll marinade more evenly too. Thicker cuts of meat will need more time than thin ones, but overall your meat should taste and smell pretty good after cooking.
